The Bunnymen were one of the most seminal British post-punk/new wave era bands. Not at all goth, but I think they were appreciated by a lot of goth-lovers, in the same way that post-punk bands like Joy Division and Public Image Ltd. also have a certain goth-following. It's not meant as an insult. I've met goths who love The Smiths, they are not all one-dimensional Mission fans :)

Diane gets it, yeah maybe not GOTH but she loves the bands I love and she gets it. Labels and categories, really, is that the point? I am a fan of and have seen all the bands mentioned........ and I was also instantly drawn to her, even though her music is nothing like theirs, it has serious artistry, quality, thought and soul. Art and the Artist, rock on.

I was there when the class of '77 imploded. Echo & the Bunnymen are NOT GOTH and certainly they are not NEW WAVE. They are decidedly JANGLEPOP!!! Listen for the angular guitars---they're straight out of KILLING JOKE, for crying out!!!

@sissastern While I see the point in what you're saying, does ANY band consider themselves goth? I think listeners attribute the label according to whether or not it sounds 'dark' to them. EATB sometimes feel dark to me, personally.

No, the bunnymen have exactly ONE "goth" song: Killing Moon. They are one of the foundational New Wave bands... The bunnymen are almost always really good to dance to. You cannot dance to Bauhaus... Take it from me. I was there...

This video would be much better without the interview in the middle. Should be at beginning/end.
