One of Diana Ross' better wigs of 1965! ;o) "Nothing but Heartaches" is one of those Should have been #1s +TeryM ....I agree with you on the 3 of them with the blended Lyrics on Nothing but Heartaches...I feel the same way with "Stop in the Name of Love". I get chills when I hear them like this!

Flo is too close to the mike tho lol, thats why she is so loud/prominent. Although im all for her, the album's harmony with her aways back sounds great. #NoHate

go Florence!! if she had been given the same opportunities as ''miss ross'' things would have been very different. she had all the raw materials for what it takes to be a star and the fans adored her. there was room for 2 lead singers in the supremes. most of the released stuff dianas voice was perfect for but some of the album tracks/b sides flo could have killed

why is gospel not mass appeal when the greatest artist all whitney aretha mariah james brown gladys knight all come from a gospel background? berry said the same thing about aretha he wanted her sister erma cause she sounded pop and years later who picture did he have hanging on his wall next to dianas aretha lol so that argument of gospel dont sell is not working. berry said all of them had qualities unique thats what made them supreme

No one at Motown could figure why this record did not make it to #10 right off the bat. In fact it stalled outside the Top 10. Eons later Diane said she thought just maybe it too much resembled the hits which preceded it and a change of pace was needed, which is what Holland-Dozier-Holland promptly delivered in the divine "I Hear A Symphony." They never doubted the Supremes would continue to enjoy #1s for years, which they did.

Calvin375 Flo Ballard trained singer she may have been but Star and Public appeal she wasn"t. The fact that Diana Ross wasn"t a trained singer makes her rise to the top even more amazing.

I don't know about what truth you're referring to, but Florence Ballard was a trained singer and that's the only truth I'm referring to in response to bobwills66's comment. That's the only truth I'm concerned with and not any other deflection from it.

I love that the camera operator acknowledged all 3 of them. Those "Nothing but Heartaches'" at 1:56 are so powerful! Love them.

He does know what he's talking about. It's just that Flo fans can't accept the true

It was a formula. The Funk Brothers and Holland - Dozier Holland were very important to their success.

That's why performers like her don't need pyrotechnics and don't have to flip over themselves or strip on stage to get attention. Even today, Diana can just stand there and sing like she did for the president last year, and the audience just melts

Each lady has contributed greatly in their part of music history just like Diane. Even more so by most critics.

So what's does that have to do with the fact that you think she has the voice that has mass appeal when clearly Aretha Franklin 'The Queen of Soul" is beloved and adored by all races and ethnicities and has the Grammies ( 20 of them) to prove it? Aretha also has the Kennedy Center Award and several Lifetime Achievement Awards and several American Music.

Yes, compare her record, tv show sales, movie sales (what Patti movies?) and WORLD WIDE concert draw to Diana's , you man cunt. I hate you "bitches" that don't give Diana credit when it's clearly deserved. Yeah, who has the lifetime grammy and Kennedy Center Award and French Academy Award? And Guinness Book or World Records award, along with countless AMAs (worth more than any Grammy)

No, it's because Diana's voice was different had a more commercial sound, and lucky for everyone she happened to be a high-soprano at the time. Go to any black church in the USA. You'll hear tons of Marys and Flos and Pattis.... (YAWN) Diana's vocal talent and legacy speaks for itself. This song right here I'd rather listen to anytime than the synthetic crap they call music today. I'm thoroughly enjoying it.
