IMO Deftones has the perfect setup. Like, I wish I had a band that could just be Deftones. You know? I wish I could just be in Deftones, because if I start a band I would just wanna rip them off so much. I love thick sludgy riffs and melodic vocals. Every other band I hear that is influenced by Deftones just comes off sounding cheesy and immature. Man I need and 8-string guitar.

Of all the bands I grew up listening to.. I never thought the Deftones would be the band to be continuously putting shit out and making their mark. Good on them. I can't wait for more.

Doomed is what I expected from the album, big riffs and a dirty bass, with chino on top form. I just cant get to grips with the rest however. I know its got very polarised between the earlier terry date metal side and the later space rock styles, but I dunno, i love the jerry cantrell addition but theres not enough external imput for me here to counterbalance their dibs into their back catalogue. Im not a hardcore deftones fan, ive been aware of them from the start, but only ever get into their releases apart from diamond eyes which i loved at first hearing after its been around for a bit. I gotta be honest, the nods are here, the new sound is lacking but also in existance albeit sparesly, i really now hope eros now makes a proper turn up, because gore really does bed the ground for it...
