Defeated Sanity's most recent album, 'Passages Into Deformity', manages its brutality in a very progressive, sometimes jazzy way. This release combines aspects of Brutal Death Metal, Progressive Metal, Slam Death Metal, and occasional Jazz mixed in to for a wonderfully heavy and musically proficient release.The progressives are not overwhelming as many other bands and at the times when present, it serves its purpose well. You also get the treat of jazz tangents by the bass and drums at certain instances with guitar playing it's part. It shows a great chemistry between instruments.
