Deep Six compilation was released March 1986 ). It was the very first release by C/Z Records, a few months before the release of "Sub Pop 100" from Sub Pop Records. It was also arguably the first record to influence the later "Seattle sound" that would be known worldwide as grunge(Wikipedia)

Awesome to hear the evolution of Cornell's voice here! He hadn't fully developed his higher register at this point, yet that throaty scream is already in the making. Just compare it to the latter version of the same song where he already has that godly voice we've gotten to know him for.

this is actually their best song, so pure and avant garde, Deep Six still sounds totally unique

@Mudgarden92 i've always asked myself why people out boundaries on their music. never made any sense to me. alice in chains and soundgarden are my top 2 bands.. ever.. when i listen to other bands that i didn't grow up on like the previous 2, i always wonder why everyone seems to all abide by the same rule that you have to stick to a certain sound and musical area... for example i'll hear terms like, "this album is like john lennon's imagine" why would u base an album off the ideas just 1 song?!

@RulerOFmany they changed on every album which is why they are so popular because with one band they have done everything from metal to folky acoustic type stuff. It wasn't just Superunknown. They went a new direction with every album, look at the difference from Louder Than Love to Badmotorfinger, then Ultramega OK to Louder Than Love, then Screaming Life to Ultramega OK. There were obvious changes on each record and it simply because they didn't put any musical boundaries on themselves
