The band wanted to include "Hey Joe", which had famously been recorded some eighteen months prior by Jimi Hendrix, who was a big name at this time. The song is a dramatic rearrangement to Hendrix's version; led off by a long intro with various sound-effects, and much slower paced structure overall. Also, it is ended with a much longer outro than the aforementioned version. After the instrumental sections are over, there are some low sounds of someone walking away and presumably slamming a door.

Very good...but the original version of Hey Joe by The Leaves is still the best beyond any doubt...because it had that classic garage rock sound!!

While I'm in the mood. Dear Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, you are deaf, brain dead and mostly corporate idiots IMHO. At least Ian Gillian puts it more eloquently "To analyze it, and I'll try not to sound cocky or anything, I will say it as respectfully as I can, it's sort of like the Oscars and Grammys and the other awards like that - in the States, just like it is in England, and other places - these awards and honors are usually not decided by the fans, but by a cartel of influential people. These are the same people that decided The Monkees were America's answer to The Beatles [laughs]. So I'm not too concerned about it. Maybe it will happen one day, bit if not, my diary is full and I'm very happy. It hasn't affected our career but it does concern the fans that's who I feel for."From July of 1968 for cripe's sake:Deep Purple - Hey Joe

The first tune must be a classical music one. Anyone knows name and composer?

This is awesome. Its been given the purple treatment. Hendrix's song still stands as a great ballad too, in the Hendrix style. Both are great.
