Oh dear, you're not getting it. He's saying that they are also victims. It's the lame mythologies we perpetuate & over value that are as much to blame. "That boy gave a 100%, what spirit , whadda man." It's a tragedy, not something to be glamorized as the hero's quest in the name of THE GAME. & given the effects of CTE damage we are seeing from repeated exposure to collisions in sports, I'd say makes this song that much more relevant.
