I've seen so many comments here about Kevin Kline's voice in this song, but I have to disagree--I think Kline's voice is what MAKES this song so moving. Cole Porter wasn't a singer, he was a composer. And singing a freshly written tune for a musical is not the same as being a classically trained singer on stage performing it in full regalia and lighting. It's the intimacy of and heartbreak in Kline's voice as he's singing to Ashley Judd that moves one to tears. He is to be applauded for this beautiful rendition of this song.

I too stumbled on to the movie on Starz and I can tell you that I will be visiting here over and over again. It hit me because it is just how I feel about someone right now. The movie well it is a biopic but how can Kevin Klein and Jonathn Price not give a stellar perforance. It makes me realize that I need to continue to write and do my poems and stories. The reason is that if Cole Porter can be gone from this earth and still effect us means we should all find our own eternal greatness.

This was on last night, uncut, and I recorded it immediately. I always thought this the best moment in the film, despite the fact that it always makes me cry. Kline and Judd are lovely and heartbreaking here. Cole Porter and Linda Thomas had the most fascinating union- a marriage of convenience to be sure, but they ended up true soul mates to each other after all. With "Kiss Me Kate" as backdrop (inter-cutting with the most tragic moment of the plot), it stands as the film's masterpiece.
