For anyone who needs to be told what this means: It's his memories surrounding his formative musical experiences and his experience informs his songwriting. It's about the power of music to "stir up memories" and "cut through the noise" of life to speak to us. Songs are used as a soundtrack during special events, formative experiences. For instance, I cannot hear Creed without thinking about my Junior year in High School. I cannot listen to early 1990s Country (The River, Burn that Bridge, Anymore, So Help Me Girl, Does He Love You, I Swear, In the Heart of a Woman) without thinking about my introduction to country music through my Aunt and her family when she was babysitting me and my brother. I can't hear Sugarland's 2008 Album "Love on the Inside" without thinking about the joy that it brought me in a very dark time in my life. So, if you have ever had a memory triggered by hearing an old song, if you have ever related to the lyrics of a song, if you have ever kissed while a song was on the radio, and if you have ever been healed or felt a spiritual experience from someone's else's song, you know what this song is about. It's self-aware of the importance of music to him, and what it can do to those listening to his hard work.

David - You are without a doubt the most exciting breath of fresh air in todays "music industry". Each album is a separate chapter, yet there is a common, genuine theme that binds them together - and that is you as a true artist, and a true human being. Stay you brother, and keep doing what you were put on this earth to do - just what you're doing. Take care and all the best.

We can't go back and undo the past. But we can go back in our memories. Nothing or no one can rob of us or our past or memories. That's the beauty of life and love. No matter where we are in our lives, we have those memories that no one can take away from us!

I know everyone keeps asking what this song is about...But sometimes, a song is so masterfully written, that the song is about YOU. YOUR memories are all that you can think of. YOUR life is what you recall. YOUR emotions are stirred up. It is so powerful, that it isn't about one story... its about my life, and your life, and everyone's. That is what the chorus is saying... he wrote this song because he knows the power of music, and hes hoping that this song hits someone somewhere in the world. And I can tell you that this song is one of the most powerful songs ive ever heard.

after i heard this song quite a few times, i decided to putt it to the test as to what 1000,000 dreams might sound like. i put a tape recorder beside my bed to see if my dreams made any sounds and other than the odd snore here and there, they made no sound. now unless someone was talking in their sleep i don't think there would be any sounds other than that!! but then i started thinking, there are so many time zones, and different times in so many different countries and some countries would be asleep at every hour of the day. between people talking in their sleep or snoring and 1000,000 people doing this while they were dreaming, i'm sure the sounds of 1000,000 dreams would be hard for the rest of the world to get any sleep at all. hahahhaha but the song itself is high calibre and true David Nail!!

This song is about all songs and how they touch your soul, how they connect you to moments in your life, how you remember things when you hear a song--buried but not forgotten!!!! The sound of a million dreams (songs)!! When they hit you to your soul and you never forget..That's what a true musician does he writes and sings songs wanting us to connect to them. This song should of been No.1 !!!!! Love it David !!

I bought the newest CD, and it was great. I know this song, I really like, don't know if it's about someone or something, everybody wonders too. I know you're coming to Massachusetts on Nov. 8 and if I am well I'll be there.

Everybody asks the same question about this song? Is it about someone? I know he is coming to Boston Area in November, considering seeing him.

Seger was singin' words I could believe in. And "Mainstreet" was my street that night. So I called up Samantha and asked her the chance of us runnin' out neath the moon light. Well shes not with me now, she can always be found. When I rewind the radio dial and like it was then I feel her on my skin and I'm back there for a while. So I labor for hours cuz' I know the power. Of a song when a song hits you right. Poured my soul into stories of life. Hopin' someone will hear one tonight. Maybe my voice will cut through the noise. And stir up an old memory. And out of these piano keys. Comes the sound. The sound of a million dreams. My 18th summer I was a cocky up and come'er. Crankin' up "Born To Run". Turn left out the drive with the pistons open wide. And I came back a prodigal son. My spirit was broken, she threw the door open. I love you not I told you so. When I hear momma tried I still break down and cry. And pull to the side of the road.
