someone, and i mean ANYONE, can find themselves in the situation because we can tend to take other people (especially the ones closest to us) for granted and forgetting to do just those little things that bring a smile to their face, or just a look that says "i love you" or i'm "so grateful you're in my life". sometimes we get so wrapped up in so many things that we end up not communicating very well, and without really paying attention, we end up pushing that special person away. by the time we realize, it's sometimes too late and she's already gone and you hurt like hell when you realize you have nobody else to blame but yourself. in this song it has a good ending but with a strong message that you don't push it to the point where you see her leaving. stay alive and treat her in a way that she will never want to leave because communicating is the foundation of keeping it all together. by the way, David is an incredible singer/songwriter, a hell of an artist and more and more people should listen to his lyrics.....
