Monday Morning was written sometime in early to mid 1997. It was one of a few songs written for the movie This Years Love. In the movie This Years Love, there is a club scene in which David Gray is preforming Monday Morning.

It was thought that Monday Morning would be on David Gray's upcoming record, White Ladder. Because of the poppiness sound of Monday Morning, it was speculated that Monday Morning could be a single off of White Ladder. Unfortuately that was not to be, as Monday Morning was not on the White Ladder record which was released in 1998.

Monday Morning has not been release on any David Gray's record since White Ladder. Though the song was played live from time to time between 1997-1999, it has not been preformed since then.
