Circa 1959. Alto saxophonist Paul Desmond, who wrote this composition, delivers a very smooth solo. Drummer Joe Morello is on fire.

Holy crap! That IS the best Morello solo I've ever seen! Plays with his hands (is this where Bonham got the idea for Mody Dick), incredible crossovers then left hand with fingers technique and ends so hard he has to pull the kick/rack tom back towards him!

West Coast Cool! Never get tired of this Desmond composition with the Dave Brubeck Quartet. Check out a young Hugh Hefner introducing the quartet and a great drum solo by Joe Morello ( I believe). Love all things Paul Desmond this month :)

For some reason I though I saw Ingrid Bergman in the background.
