Ok I had to go youtube it and listen again, +DARPA please thank who ever put Dave Brubeck Take Five in the intermission tonight for the DARPA Robotics Challenge, it was perfect for the spot and absolutely amazing to hear again, a real gem. Kudos to the producers and all involved.

Mark Ogle: Joe Morello gave the rythm and was new five beats instead of 2, 3, or 4...thats why it sounds so new and different in those times and even now what your accustomed to.Take five is one of the greatest tunes and new invention of that time...Dave gives the piano only rythm not more and let the most beautiful soprano saxplayer Paul Demond do the fantastic melody A sound I have nebver heard again since he died! RIP Paul Desmond!. Time Out was the album called and the first jazz record that sold more than 1 million copies! I have seen Whiplash, by the way it was the best jazz movie I have ever seen!

I grew up listening to this... 21 years now. When I was a toddler my parents would bring me along to Jazz sessions in Galway city, Ireland. The same Jazz band still performs there every Sunday and I still attend. You're not a Jazz band if you don't cover this.
