Danny had it all as a musician: a great guitarist and songwriter. He could have played with anyone. I guess he had something really destructive inside him.

Like the previous comment states, masterpiece, not just a brilliant musician, a brilliant businessman to have come up with the title "Second Chapter" for a solo album at such an early age! I wrote "Ms Quixote Goes Country" inspired by Freddie Prinze, Sr.'s tragic death, and I really believe that Danny and Peter were targeted, just like so many entertainers of their time. Bob Welch's death was also tragic, and I also wonder.

I absolutely love the strings on this song. They just soar! Incredible arrangement/production on this song. I love Kirwan's music.

Danny is amazing and I wish we had more of his music, but he is done with that era of his life. Sigh...

If all we get from Danny, is what we've got, then we are still blessed.

to paraphrase velvet brown, speaking to her father about her race horse . " when i asked him to give more he did , and when i asked him for more again, he doubled his efforts , and he just about burst to give his all. i'd rather pie be happy than i get into heaven. '' that is how i feel about danny kirwan

Well said...Bob and Danny were two amazing songwriters in Fleetwood Mac and really scored on "Bare Trees." I happened on "Second Chapter" in the cut-out bin of a record store in Athens GA. This song and "Hot Summer Day" are my favorites on that album.

Bob Welch's sad passing prompted me to reconnect to Fleetwood Mac of that era. Danny Kirwin's contributions to Bare Trees were/are underappeciated. I frequently listen to the uplifting tune Sunnyside of Heaven to start the day. I occasionally dust off the Second Chapter LP -- the title song's light, jazzy touch continues to endear. I suspect it's a small circle of folks who listen to Danny's music but indebted fans and listeners nonetheless.
