Green Day was a punk band until 2004 when they released American Idiot, and even then they kept the concept of punk in their music still intact. Sure, it's not Punk rock anymore, but the lyrics are still punk-enough to be considered Punk nevertheless. And Green Day is arguably one of the most popular punk bands to ever set foot on this planet. These guys started from the bottom. They started from absolutely nothing. So even if you don't like them, you can at least appreciate the effort they put into their music and the effort they put to get to where they are now.

well i personally don't like green day (at least the new stuff, the old stuff is ok) but that is my choice, while i will still say fuck you to anyone for liking green day i still respect theme. i mean it could be worse... (Also i hate it when people call green day a 'punk' band)
