Love your mother before God takes her away from you

I am 53 - 54 soon - and still have both of my parents, but sadly my first wife died when she gave birth to our daughter. My daughter is well, but of course she grew up with the pain of never having known her real mother. And I'm afraid even though I remarried I have not been a very good father. Now she is married and has kids on her own too.

This song rips my heart open whenever I hear it. My mother died on 11/6/88. I am 42 and that loss just never goes away. I am a lucky one since I got to have my mom for 17 years. yes thats too short but so many others do not even get that chance. I say this with tears in my eyes since I still miss her so much.

my dad gave me this record (45) in 1978 i believe, i was about the same age as the little boy in the song.. since then i always appreciated great song lyrics. Funny how music can touch your soul even as a child.

To hear C.W.'s similar track with a Yuletide theme, check out his "Sing Silent Night." It's the second to last song in the Wink Martindale radio special "The 100 Greatest Christmas Hits of All Time."
