ICH LIEBE DEUTSCHLAND

LYRICSOutside my window is a tree.Outside my window is a tree. There only for me.And it stands in the grey of the city,No time for pity, for the tree or me.There is a world of painIn the falling rainAround me.Is there a reason for today? Is there a reason for today?Do you remember?I can hear all the cries of the city,No time for pity for a growing tree. There is a world of painIn the falling rainAround me.Outside my window is a tree.Outside my window is a tree. There only for me.And it stands in the grey of the city,No time for pity, for the tree or me.There is a world of painIn the falling rainAround me.

"Is there a reason... for today? Do you remember?"Was there, ever, a more psychedelic lyric penned, ever?God Bless Pete Brown.Incidentally, this cut, somewhat obscure though it may be, showcases these three virtuosi at their collaborative best:With the possible exception of the chorus (my ears think they know, but they don't know that they know), where Clapton may be harmonizing with Bruce, all of the vocal stuff, and the amazing bass stuff, is Bruce; Clapton takes blues-rock guitar (both as rhythm player, and as soloist) to an orchestrational level; and Baker is...Baker. 'Nuff said.**Self-correction Addendum:I believe that Clapton is the low-voice singer on each verse...What had me fooled was the precision and musicianship with which he sings the rather angular melody, a precision/musicianship that I always associated with Bruce.(I mean that as a compliment to both of them... If Clapton should happen to read this, I hope he takes it that way.)

When music was a craft and an art and worthy of awe and admiration. Some may consider Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj, 50 Cent, etc. music - well good luck with that.

I pray that kids today and future generations discover Jack Bruce (R.I.P.) and Cream.

There is indeed a world of pain today since Jack Bruce died today.

Victim of Changes

The first Cream song I've looked up since I heard Jack died today.Jack, your bass playing influenced generations upon generations of bassists throughout many branches of rock. Your contribution will never be forgotten, and your legacy will be honored as long as humans can hear music. Rock in peace, brother.
