You were most beautiful as the damage and the trauma

Pounding hard with battered wings of destiny

You were my last great war

You were my heaven ablaze

Riddled with faults and fractures

And I spent my last of days burning my oldest of bridges

And I spent my last of nights killing the best of friends

In the company of thieves, liars, beggers and whores

I'll lay waiting, just waiting for my time to come

Some albums you can say "this never gets old!" But very few albums you can put on and experience the exact same excitement you felt when you first discovered their brilliance. Jane Doe is one of those records. It never fails to blow me away.

+Bear GryllsI know your comment is a few months old now, but I can give you my perspective as to why I consider Jane Doe to be one of the best metal albums of all time, and why it's easily in my top 5 favorites of all time. It's the sheer aggression that they were able to encapsulate in this album. From start to finish, the album is completely unrelenting. Some metal takes from different pools; there's a shitload of different KINDS of metal. There's melodic shit, there's insane/technical metal, grind, black metal, etc. Converge takes from a pool that not many bands have; sheer anger, rage, aggression while at the same time churning out incredible guitar riffs, fast and technical drumming, and vocals that perfectly say one thing; this is rage, pure and unrestrained.

HAHAHAHAHA, you're joking right? No memorable riffs? The vocals vary somewhat. This album was love at first sight when I heard "Concubine" This is one of my favorite albums of all time....you're just a shallow Metal-listener

Considering Converge, at first I only liked their "slower" songs, then AWLWLB came along last year and I got kinda hooked on a couple songs. They started to grow slowly on me from there, ESPECIALLY the Jane Doe album. But I kept coming back to it. I think a big part of the reason I like Jane Doe the most is because it is about, clichéd but oh well, love. I have not heard any other music cover despair in heartache so well. Maybe try listening to The Broken Vow till Thaw, whilst reading the lyrics

But i cant see any other band bringing the coordinated speed with good melodies not just boom bap sounds . Like integrated intricate changes in rythm at just the right time. But im a drummer so i might be biased musically, listening to the drums more than nething else but i cant enough of them Let me know of any other bands you guys know u think rival converge. I gotta suspect there better than youtubes suggestions

Ok thats all absolutely not tru....i have no connection to and input from the metal punk or whatever genre ansld listen to ne music predominently underground rap reggae or nething And the first time i heard converge i couldnt get the rythmic timings and emotion out of my head just all around incredible and im unbiased so if u dont like em u cant blame everyone who likes em on bloated media hype. Its all good if u dont like em as much it might be becuz i dpnt now neone who knowd other bands

I completely agree. I think people love them because they are one of the pioneers of metalcore and now a lot of metalcore is shit. So everyone else loves them because metal elitists do too.

I hated this album at first along with Petitioning The Empty Sky, but after repeated listens they really grew on me. Jane Doe is one of my favorite albums of all time.

i can't explain with words what this songs makes me feel, at first i didn't care for it when i was younger, but then it grew on me like an universe absolute truth about despair and hopelessness.
