And like that heart that got in the way

I'll become the lost cause

The child of burden and rage

Like the distance in your touch

Like the years we burned down

I heard that phone call

The hesitation, the awkward silence

I felt everything in those seconds

Splinters of sentence and heartless advice

Nothing's changed but these days entwined

Why do people post lyrics to Jane Doe songs? There is no lyrics other than random phrases Jacob keeps repeating. I don't know how people are getting these lyrics....

I definitely agree on some level with the Progressive Death Metal label for Between the Buried and Me. But they are deeply rooted in Metalcore: Breakdowns, sing-chorus/scream-verse shows up on tracks like White Walls, riffage that's reminiscent of Gothernburg Melodeath. At the same time, they combine so many diverse elements from other genres - most notably Progressive music. Either way, it proves my original point that bands like Anterior/BTBAM have notable Punk AND Metal influences.

Between the Buried and Me isn't metalcore. On their early albums, there were metalcore elements. On "Colors" they pretty much shed any hints of metalcore. From the beginning, they were always progressive death metal.

@ProtectTheHonor No, ABR is commercial BS, this is the real stuff. It actually sounds like a combination of metal and hardcore and not just watered-down melodeath like all the "melodic" metalcore bands. You're just not used to abrasive music, most likely.

The point he's making is that most metalcore is commercial crap. And he's right, it is. I'm talking about stuff like Miss May I and August Burns Red. That shit is the worst, lol.

@Melvin0082 Metallic Hardcore has REAL punk and metal influences whereas Melodic Metalcore, with the exception of bands like Between the Buried and Me and Anterior, have watered-down riffs to appeal to wanna-be tough guys and skinheads with Double-Digit IQs (kind of like you).

@Melvin0082 Okay. First of all, put your thoughts down in a coherent manner so it's easier for the rest of us to understand. By what your post is getting at, it seems that you're agreeing with me. Thrash Metal (Metallica, Slayer, Sepultura) has Metal song structure with Punk Attitude. Metallic Hardcore (Converge, Integrity, etc.) is PUNK song structure with METAL attitude.
