The world has The Rolling Stones but Australia has Cold Chisel, arguably Australia's greatest rock band ever. This is from their "Ringside" tour recorded at Sydney's Horden Pavilion in June of 2003.

Hound dog is about gigging up n down the east coast of australia. According to Don's book, I figure the road house open sandwich was a works burger at the blackhill all nighter on the south edge of Muswellbrook. The guys used to call in on there way from Armidale to Sydney where they would travel from Don's uni to giggs in Newy and Syd.

Just love this fukin song. The best unknown song in the world. Did they ever release it? Huh, some fan I am! Screw it, still a great song nevertheless. Chisel kick ass especially live. Can't wait for the new album and tour, RIP Steve.

Circus Animals was always one of my top 4 Chisel albums, right up there with Cold Chisel, Breakfast at Sweethearts and Barking Spiders. Don Walker's writing has always been at the core of this driven band, Mossy's guitars and sweet vocals, and Barnesy in the 80's was just the raw heart of Oz pub rock. Yep, gotta be one of the best road trip songs written ...

Actually I believe Don's original lyrics were exactly that when he wrote it. They then decided to clean it up a bit for the studio release on Circus Animals. Great to hear it reinstated as written at these shows. I was there for this, and the return bout 6 months later - awesome shows.
