There's this story don't know if its true or not but a Vietnam vet comes home and has a beer with his mates. One of his mates asks him did he lose his leg in Vietnam he replies saying he actually lost it back home when a few hippie arseholes jumped him for being a vet and beat the shit out of him for serving in Vietnam in the end lost his leg due to infection. It makes you think what these men endured in Vietnam and when they came back to unwelcoming arseholes who treated them like shit. Respect for all Vietnam Veterans also all soldiers past and present that have served throughout great conflicts especially our ANZACS.

It's sad. The Vietnam veterans had to go through so much, had to endure horrors that no human would ever wish upon their worst enemy in their lifetime, and were welcomed back home by abuse and neglect. We respect you, V Day heroes! We are thankful for your service!

I think this whole thing has gotten out of hand. My original comment was that if the Americans hadn't gotten involved in Vietnam, we probably wouldn't have been there either. As to our so-called socio-economic relationship with Asian countries - I ask you to think about our recent dealing with Indonesia. Whether drug dealers are guilty or not, there attitude to our pleas for clemency are met with disdain. I realise that we have a W-A-P government, but 'Bang Bangs' attitude, sucks big time. Whether we ever got involved in Vietnam or not is irrelevant. We would still be here and so would they be there. Too many people I know didn't come home and those that did didn't come home right....
