Chuck was given first shot at a few Burt Bacharach songs in the early 60s, including this tearjerker from 1962. His gruff singing style gives them a soulful edge.

Dionne and Dee Dee Warwick help out in the background.

Them 9 peeps who don't like this are either stupid or more realistically have faulty computers.

Great song by Bacharach - David. But the singing is tops.

2:16 of bliss. The sheer joy of listening to recordings of this era makes it all worthwhile.

There were many nights that this song had me in absolute tears. I couldn't get enough of listening to this song. It was a good and bad feeling to hear him sing this song.

@JackieWilsonLover....Your description of Chuck's vocals is the best yet because you're accurate! I also hear a smooth and passionate delivery in his beautiful baritone. I don't hear husky, coarse or harshness at all :( IMO, Chuck knows how to project soulfulness into the lyrics. All in all, he knows HOW to sing because he's just a fantastic singer!

Pretty baby.....yeah. I love this. Mr. Jackson's songs were always so cool, romantic, soulful and sometimes a little tragic. This man didn't get all the accolades he truly deserved. For those who didn't see him in person, let me tell ya, we girls went into conniptions! : )

Freddy scott was not a NYC soul singer. He was born and raised here in New England in Providence, R.I. Answer to JAZZYJ1318. Thanks for asking because I love to promote New Englanders.

Played this over and over (in 60's). Fantastic production! Couldn't figure why this didn't hit the top of the charts. Soulful sweet sad song.
