Berry (and perhaps Little Richard) is the true kings of Rock 'n' Roll. He certainly had a bigger influence.

I have 3 people I consider to be the "Godfather's of Rock". While Elvis is the "King" he's not the Godfathers. The 6 are Chuck Berry, Ritchie Valens, Bill Haley, Bo Diddley, Little Richard, and Buddy Holly. Chuck Berry did a lot for the genre like the guitar solo and the duckwalk. Bill Haley is mainly the actual "godfather" as "Rock Around The Clock" was one of the first rock songs. Bo Diddley invented the "Bo Diddley Beat" and other forms of rhythm playing. Little Richard inspired soul and his persona of being loud and proud held up in the 70's. Buddy Holly basically lived the Rockstar lifestyle in his short time. And Ritchie Valens, despite not being around too long, inspired many people with his own style.
