This is the closest to a classic "Big Star" tune as you can get with Alex and Chris on it.

Sounds a lot like a badfinger song. So do a lot of the Big Star songs. Badfinger the most underrated band of their time.

I love Chris Bell and this song is adorable, innocent and brilliant. Its like a "sister" song to "Thirteen". Everytime I hear it I cant help feeling a bit sad that he lived such a short time, but he created some timeless music that will go on forever. Ditto Alex, miss you......

Good on you Chris. You created what is probably the most beautiful song in the history of men singing while plucking stringy things. Having Alex Chilton on backing vocals is an embarrassment of riches.

@ronoman88 I know it's an old comment but "Major 7th" and "Major 5th" makes no sense. Yes, it's Beatles influenced, but your explanation is off. Major 7th chords are extremely common and there really isn't such thing as a "Major 5th" chords. You might mean power chords, which again everyone uses in rock.

interesting how on his demos for this song, he sings "love you everyday", and on this one, he sings "plans fail everyday". adds even more to the feeling of heartbreak you get from this song
