Carl Smith has to be the most underrated voices in country music, and it's unbelievable that he is not remembered and revered more today. This collection encompasses the early years (up to 1960) and begins with his early "Hank-style" and progresses as Carl becomes comfortable with his own smooth vocals that are immediately recognizable

I saw Carl in the late 50's or early60's in Tampa, fl and during the break in singing, hejumped off staged and kissed a young teenager on the check and I thought she wasabout to faint. He was sometimes referred to as the Country Elvis.

Carl's voice is perfect for bluegrass. I could see him having a whole new career breakthrough if he had switched. Listen to him doing Flatt &Scruggs Before I Met You. No one does it better.

Carl dabbling a little bit in some bluegrass there. Quiet a departure for him. I'd like to hear some more of that. Thanks for posting it.
