Love BIll Bruford with all my musical heart. I know that Bill loves jazz and the ground that the elite drummers (Buddy, Tony, Elvin, Philly Jo, etc.) walk on. I know too that Bill plays Bill and doesn't try to imitate others. What Bill does is much more appreciated when not compared to others in a genre that hasn't been his "bread and butter". But it is exactly what it's supposed to be... his contribution to a tribute to a great jazz drummer. I find it more satisfying to listen for Bill than to be listening for Buddy or Tony or Elvin or...

6/8 and Bruford's slightly cosmic touch to his work, unmistakable playing and superb...

Bill was ALWAYS a jazz drummer in my opinion.  You could hear it and see it in all his work. He's just a blast to see live too.  Always smiling and engaging the audience.  The guy's a genius!

Neil is great and Bill is a genius. But part of what makes them so good is their tightness, which actually works against them in this context.  Jazz is loose and swinging.  Bill does it much better than Neil though. He at least understands what it's supposed to be.

I've always enjoyed watching and listening to Bruford. That feather touch, that crisp, brilliant snare, and those accents out of nowhere that, no matter the band, even if you've never heard it, you go, "Wait... That's Bill Bruford!"

Bill is not here to show himself.I saw some drummers playing for "buddy".Some came just to show they were strong.Could they play like so ? I am not sure.Bill has nothing left to prove.

The worst performance of all the artists involved with the two cd releases. Hard to watch this. It's so flat and lifeless.

Try LISTENING to Bruford, Bill Bruford's Earthworks, Bruford, Levin Upper Extremities etc and  ASSIMILATING the music. If you still think he's an inferior drummer, I feel sorry for you.

Oh my, what an embarrassment for Mr.Bruford here. He shoulda stuck with that awful "prog" rock he plays.

Buddy grew up under unique conditions. Playing and dancing, and singing. i think that helped too. I haven't heard ever of another drummer that had quite the upbringing he did.
