It was later released on the Buffalo Springfield Box Set in 2001.

I have also uploaded the 'Studio' version which is faster, shorter & fantastic!

I really like the other version, but this one is just as good...just different.

Embryonic Springfield. The mix of voices between Furay & Stills made their sound. Neil Young was frosting on the cake.

Totally buy the box set! One of the best music purchases I have made in a while now! There so many unheard gems on the box set! Like this song, which has rapidly become one of my favorites. Love the harmonies and the acoustic sound.

Way cool singers ...60's is the best for vocal.

I loved everything on the boxset - although a lot can be found on the individual albums. It's a great set to own, we listen to it quite often. I'll send you a private message with a suggestion lol ~Sonya

I read the reviews of the box set, and people suggested it was better just to buy the studio albums. What do you think, Sonya? After hearing these 2 versions, I'm tempted to buy it.

Old as the hills eh? As my 30th birthday draws ever closer... LOL But remember - you're only as old as the song you are playing.. which in me case makes me 67today hahaha ~Sonya

Oh yes, you can hear Nesmith's influence all over that debut album. And the Nesmith songs on Headquarters (their 3rd albumn I think) show him at his best IMO. That whole album is good in fact, and Peter Tork does some great keyboard work on there. I was just a wee lad back then Sonya, but that would still make me old as the hills wouldn't it :o) haha -Ron

Couldn't agree more, Ron. Nesmith was the only Monkee that answered to the original advertisement. I think he had a much bigger hand in their debut album than they give him credit for, He even managed to play guitar on a couple of tracks which the studio wasn't THAT pleased about. It's a real shame they weren't taken more seriously as without the gimmicks and acting foolish their music is brilliant. Valleri is my favourite! lol Hope you're well ~Sonya

Hey Sonya, Yes, a wise decision by Stills, and its intersting to compare Stills choice to Mike Nesmith who did go down that path. Nesmith was as good a writer as anyone at that time, but he will always be known as the Monkee with the funny cap. Talk to you later Sonya, -Ron

lol..never noticed that before now. Yeah he did try out for the Monkees.. The story goes 'The studio said they would hold ALL writes to any song Stills penned whilst he was under contact' so he walked away..he suggested his room mate Pete Tork should try out instead. Just imagine the material they would have now had he signed up and the lack of material we wouldn't be enjoying now.. Although I'm listening to a Stills '79 live tour and he is completly murdering 'Woodstock' hahaha ~Sonya

Hey Sonya, thanks for putting this up. I love demos as you know, and especially these very early ones like this. -- Does Stills look a lot like Peter Tork in this photo? ;o) He actually did audition for the Monkees TV show didn't he? -Ron
