Fancy Dancer was on the Guitar Man Album, released in 1972. On The Border (Eagles) was released in 1974. For those saying this sounds life On The Border . . . Fancy Dancer was first. Plus, members of Bread were friends with members of the Eagles.

Jeff Kahl, you brought up an excellent point about this tune's similarity to The Eagles' tune, On the Borderline.

'Guitar Man' was released in 1972. 'On the Border' in 1974. Bread was/is friends with several of the 'Eagles.' They probably toured in the same circles.

I feel like James Griffin was the heart and soul of Bread even though David Gates wrote so many of the hits.

@presto35 Indeed it is. Dean toured on and off with bread between 72 and 78.
