KROQ was bought and destroyed in '86. I remember listening to it then thinking, "what the hell just happened to this station?" It was mainstream beancounters trying to catch lightning in a bottle. On the brighter side, growing up in southern California and being in high school there from 82-85 was THE best!! Great time to be a teen right when KROQ was hitting it's stride.
