Wash it in the sea let it soak all night

Wash it in the sea let the saltwater wash it away

Soak it in bleach till its white on white

Soak it in bleach till the blood just washes away

Hang it in the wind let it blow all night

Hang it up high, let the high wind blow it away

Hang it in the wind let the sun burn bright

Hang it in the wind till the blood just washes away

I have waited wasted years

For the child that's come and gone today

I wasted all this fear

How can I just turn and wash it away

If I can then I will wash it away

If she can then she will wash it away

If I can then I will wash it away

If she can then she will wash it away

Forty years spent one by one

Forty years of life just slipping away

What I’d give for a firstborn son

Forty years of blood just washing away

I have waited wasted lives

I have waited long enough I’d say

Say what about, what about, what about, what about

How can I just turn and wash it away

If I can then I will wash it away

If she can then she will was it away

If I can then I will wash it away

If she can then she will was it away

So send me an angel

Send me the ghost that I was

Just send me an angel

Send me the ghost that I was

That I was, that I am. I will wash it away

She will wash it away

I will wash it away if I can then I will, I will and I will

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, hey yeah, yeah, yeah.

Hey yeah, yeah. If I can then I will wash it away

I remember this song from the late 90s. I was with my ex-gf from Assumption College and we went to Letran to get my Alumni Card. Anyway, this is from the 1997 album Your Body Above Me.

I have a promo cd from working at a book/music store many years ago that has an AMAZING acoustic version of this song. Fun times, we used to get all kinds of promo stuff in, and they'd put it all in a big bin and we'd get to pick through it at the end of the month.

Easily one of the most underrated rock songs of the 90's. Just comes together beautifully.

Michael Belfer really gave this band their launch, didn't he? Great tune. Lyrics are a bit verbose and redundant but that's what sells, right?! Too bad this band's "current" members have too little integrity to even grant this song's original musical composer due credit. Ever wonder what defines SELLOUT? Here it is. Recognize that ebow guitar? Can't sing over such beautiful, distinctive playing and "wash that away." Ultimately you're conscience won't wash away either.

I LOVE this song! Takes me back. Came out a year before I turned 30. Back to when the MRT in Metro Manila was brand new and it was a joy to ride in. Going to Megamall or Shangri-la Plaza Mall after work. Buying CDs in Music 1 and Tower Records. Good times!

Did they ever release an official video for this? I can't find it anywhere. One of the best tracks from the 90s.

WOW!!! I've been looking for this song for like the last 20 years!?! It reminds me of a friend who actually got shot by accident in a scuffle during a visit to Northern Ireland about 30 years ago... He was alright, but the experience changed his perspective forever; about freedom, about politics, about everything!!! I'm not sure what this song was originally meant to be about, but I think it captures something poignantly political, nevertheless... It's more relevant today than ever!!!!
