The Verve had permission from Rolling Stones to sample “The Last Time,” but when Bittersweet came out, Allen Klein, who was their manager (Rolling Stones) until 1971, decided "they used too much of it" and sued them for the royalties. Allen Klein has always been unethical. Not even UNICEF escaped from his maneuvers. So unscrupulous, he had to steal from the emerging band, The Verve. Klein owns all the rights to everything written by Rolling Stones before 1971, which shows the kind of manager he was.

Allen Klein sempre foi considerado anti-etico no mundo da musica. Nem mesmo a UNICEF escapou de suas manobras. Inescrupuloso ao extremo a ponto de roubar o dinheiro da banda emergente The Verve. Klein possui os direitos de tudo que a banda Rolling Stones produziu antes de 1971, o que por si so ja demonstra como ele manobrou a propria banda da qual ele fazia parte. Quanto ao uso da melodia para a composicao de Bittersweet, ninguem aqui roubou o som de ninguem. Esta pratica e muito comum no mundo da musica. A propria musica The Last Time de Rolling Stones tem como base musical o Gospel de 1959 "This May Be The Last Time", da banda Staple Singers. Lamentavel o que aconteceu, pois mesmo tendo sido escrita por Richard Ashcroft, quando Bittersweet Symphony foi indicada para um Grammy, a musica foi atribuida a Jagger e Richards.

A little embarrassing for Coldplay not being able to keep up on such a simple song. Couldn't even last a minute, I hope they were drunk or high otherwise that's pretty piss poor musicianship. Not a Coldplay hater or anything just stating facts...
