Love this version and I love the Piano only version, The Orchestra gives a full quality that sounds amazing, but the simplicity of the Piano only version is just as good.

Who on earth disliked this? Must be hopelessly tasteless.

whenever my friends need help, i recommend this song. Then 2nd wind. They suddenly get a burst of confidence and happiness and realize that they are not forgotten.

Funnily enough, this is actually THE ORIGINAL version from 1971. The truth is, the widely known version (just piano+voice) comes only from an awful remix LP done in 1983 by Joel's ex-producer.

It was Joel himself. This is actually THE ORIGINAL version from 1971. The truth is, the version widely known comes only from an awful remix done by Joes's ex-producer in 1983.

I love this song so much.

Love the orchestra, but I agree. Probably the idea of the original producer, Artie Ripp, the guy who "Ripped" Billy off and initially had him sign away all of his recording rights and other copyrights.

Thank God his suicide attempt was a miserable failure...

This is more strapping explosives to your chest and blowing up in front of thousands than being alone and drinking furniture polish.

Everyone who has tried committing suicide or at least thought about it should listen to this and then listen to "Second Wind." I cry when I hear this song, then smile the tears away in "Second Wind."

For someone who has personally tried killing himself (I tried overdosing on pills) I can honestly say this is an absolutely beautiful song. It presents the same emotion and sadness as a suicidal person feels. It's such a beautiful song....

I feel like the orchestra fights the emotion of the song, although that might just be me.
