### THANKS FOR ALL, ALEX ########

(1950-2010)

example of Perfect song...

"BACK OF A CAR" (*Chilton*/Hummel)

Sitting in the back of a car

Music so loud, can't tell a thing

Thinkin' 'bout what to say

And I can't find the lines

Know I love you alot

I just don't know, should I or not

Waiting for a brighter day

And I can't find the way

I'll go on and on with you

Like to fall and lie with you

I'd love you too

Baby, I'm too afraid

I just don't know if it's ok

Trying to get away

From everything

Why don't you take me home

It's gone too far inside this car

I know I'll feel a whole lot more

When I get alone ...

This is no Strat? P90's?! You're overthinking this. There is just no way that this is anything other than a Stratocaster. P90's can not gurgle like that.

A Strat though a Fender Super Reverb on most of Radio City.

Homage band to the Beatles, but there is definitely an American twist in the music and the lyrics. It would have been impossible, as an example, for McCartney to write this song. He never experienced the "sitting in the back of a car" moment. Maybe, "sitting in a dou ble dec ker..." or some such. But I'm sure you get my point. Big Star's Third is likewise music that the Brits could not have produced. They simply did not have the American sensibility for it.

Big Star should... without question... be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Is this the best guitar sound ever recorded?? this is no strat - my vote goes with a P90 guitar. Sounds like a compressor making eh single notes sound as big as the chords.and a loud clean Fender amp - Twin or SuperR

I've tried to find out for sure myself and haven't been able, but just based on my own ears and apparently your ears too, I'm 99 % sure he's using a Strat on this and September Gurls. The engineer for Big Star recordings, John Fry said in an interview that for amps, Chilton used altnerately a Fender Super Reverb or a Hiwatt. I'd say it was the HIwatt for these recordings. When I've played a Strat through a Marshall clean, it sounds exactly like this. Beatles' Nowhere Man:SAME tone-Strats used.

Think he may have been playing a strat? As in, maybe one of the best clean, compressed strat tones I've ever heard?

I did i had a big surprise i packed my bags ready to go away with him but i was little late so he didnt want to see me i think he was with another maybe and i never seen him again come for me. Timing is everything i guess. I still think of that rode trip we could of made together.

I just heard this song on XM in my car. Very good, very Beatle-esque, Hollies-esque, even Badfinger-esque, but unique. I was hoping it was a current band, but I guess not. No wonder it sounded so good.
