the novel was called Deerbrook, by Harriet Martineau it was such a horrible novel. i've read the Brontes, i've read Jane Austen, i've read some of the chick flick book genre, but this Martineau sucked horribly. i was basically an amnesiac with Aldous Huxley If you read Brave New World, by Aldous Huxley, then read Brave New World: Revisited,- he admits that it's all real. that it isn't a fiction, they actually have plans of doing this stuff to us, like they are now.

i read this stupid book once, the only good thing about the book was the cover. it was a painting called "The Two Sisters" . it was a wonderful painting. What a horrible book ! But you are right: some books are quite good, because i wanted to read a book based on the cover. So it is true, some books aren't that bad, because the cover is inviting. Some books don't have a cover, but still are quite tempting. i wish i knew the exact name of that painting; it was a wonderful painting.

No worse than any other religion, it's just that people have gotten used to the horrors of Christianity etc. over time. Regardless, Beck doesn't strike me as some kind of fundamentalist or religious nut given his lyrics and songwriting.
