I don't think suicide was implied I think he was trying to find the words to make people understand a small portion of the sights,thoughts and sensations the window cleaner experiences. As for why I think most window cleaners struggle to explain the experience. Most people don't understand the sights, thoughts and peoples reaction and I think they painted a realistic picture.

Your all wrong.When your hanging hundreds of feet in the air all day and you do it long enough, It's not a matter of If but When. This song is the closest I have heard to what it really feels like to be up their earning a living when you would rather be anywhere else when the wind starts to blow. One had to be a Window cleaner to know how it feels. One day good the next day Bad, But you still have to go up and do it .Window cleaner don't work Window cleaner don't get paid!

Yes, it is about that, But I like to think there's a bit more meaning to it than that. I think the meaning is more broad than that. I think it's about the hardships of the poorer, working-class people in general. It's quite possibly my favorite song of their's.

yes, all that is relevant. but it IS about a window cleaner every single lyric of the song pertains to that being the setting. Perhaps there is some greater "meaning" to the song, perhaps there isn't. This could have just been an excersize in getting into a completely different persons head. Whether their is greater meaning or not is irrelevant. It's a beautiful song.

Actually i see it being about a man who feels his life doesn't matter, but is afraid of death. The business men don't see the value in what they have either, because of perspective. He thinks he would better appreciate the higher standard of life and stature if could be in their situation. But that's just my opinion...
