I'm sort of confused about the setting of the song. He says he broke into the old apartment and this is where they used to live. He obviously doesn't live there anymore, but I'm not sure if she does. From the phrasing of the chorus he's saying neither of them live there, but later in the song he says he went there to talk and that implies she should still be there. He also asks about the neighbor and says he turned on her tv to bother the neighbor, but it wouldn't be her neighbor anymore and it wouldn't be her tv if she didn't live there. So he didn't break into a vacant apartment, he broke into his ex's place. Unless he's just remembering the time back in the day when he aggravated the neighbor?

One of the most nostalgic songs Ive ever heard. So many people can relate to "the old apartment" regardless of how old they were when they lived there, whether it was as a kid, or during college, or moving out for the first time.Im happy that BNL is finally getting some well deserved recognition since big bang theory exploded. Thank you speakers corner for helping uncover this gem of a band.

I can't believe people are treating late `90s music as "old." I first heard this song around 1999. I was two years out of college and it made me nostalgic for the old house I shared with four other students. Those were good times. I can't believe that was 20 years ago now.

IMO, Absolutely one of the most under appreciated bands of all time. Their entire discography is great and they have recorded some of the signature songs of my life. Brian Wilson, The Old Apartment, If I had a million dollars..... it doesn't get any better.Too bad about the lead leaving though. If you don't know BNL, you really do - if you watch The Big Bang Theory.
