Beautiful song also performed by Faith Hill. I prefer this version. This is the first of these I have ever created but I felt the lack of Angie's version of this song so here it is... The photos are mine but the music is Angie's.

This was the one I heard around 2000 when it came out on his album, and the only version I ever cared for. Still the best. The rawness hits harder in this one.

If I had just one tear running down your cheekMaybe I could cope maybe I'd get some sleepIf I had just one moment at your expenseMaybe all my misery would be well spentCould you cry a little? Lie just a little?Pretend that you're feeling a little more pain?I gave now I'm wanting something in returnSo cry just a little for meIf your love could be caged, honey I would hold the keyAnd conceal it underneath the pile of lies you handed meAnd you'd hunt and those lies - they'd be all you'd ever findAnd that'd be all you'd have to know for me to be fineAnd you'd cry a little You'd die just a littleAnd baby I would feel just a little less painI gave now I'm wanting something in returnSo cry just a little for meGive it up babyA whimper would be fineSome kind of clue thatYou're doing timeSome kind of heartacheHoney, give it a tryI don't want pityI just want what is mine Could you cry a little? Lie just a little?Pretend that you're feeling a little more pain?I gave now I'm wanting something in returnSo cry just a little for me (Could you cry?)Could you cry a little for me?Cry a little for me

I agree with you that he's a good singer and this is a good version, but he's certainly doesn't have anything even close to a "seven octave range". I don't think you quite understand what that means. Even the best singers usually have only a two or three octave range, maybe four at the VERY outside. If he had a seven octave range only dogs would be able to hear his high notes. It's just not how the human voice works.

I like Faith's version too (I actually heard it first), but when I heard Angie's I was blown away. That voice, and the original line at 2:26 "give it up baby, a whimper would be fine, some kind of clue that, you're doing time, some kind of heartache honey, give it a try, I don't want pity, I just want what is mine" gives me chills EVERY TIME!!! Yep. Every time.

Wow... I don't buy into the whole Angie vs. Faith thing but your comments here are beyond the pale. To intimate that Angie Aparo is not a good singer and that he should stuck to harmony and writing songs is offensive. The man has a 7 octave range and it's clear on his version of this song. Listen to Faith's version and it's clear it's taking everything she has to handle it ... and it almost gets away from her. These are both talented singers so let's not discard one because he isn't famous.

I wish Angie Aparo was as well-known as Faith Hill, they are both good and each can add a different perpective to the song. (Personally I'm more of an Angie fan though--his whole "The American" album is awesome :D)

This version is the best because he wrote the damn thing. He created this song out of his head and his heart...he didn't buy it and record it and release it. There is no argument.

I like his version but Faith's is better. This is just my personal opinion.

I have no preference for either song either. It's a song about how you broke up with somebody, and you wish they would feel the same pain that you do, but they don't. Doesn't matter who sings it. As long as they pour their heart into that sentiment, it's good no matter what.

It's better cuz it was recorded first???? Noooot... I like the duet. I prefer Faith's version, but both are good.

I don't really prefer one version over the other for any particular reason, except that Angie's was the first one I heard. But when I compare them, it's really unfair. The style of voices aren't alike in any way, and both singers are talented. I'm not sure why people get so up in arms about it. Either a singer/song resonates with you, or it doesn't. If it doesn't, there's no reason to argue over it. Songs are to be listened to and enjoyed. If a song makes you angry, stop listening to it.

@prettyprettythingwow: lol she tried to out sing him at the end?? how would you know?? she was singing lead and he was singing harmony. some people just want to create drama where there is none. i actually prefer their duet version over all others; angie just sounds better doing harmony. sometimes song writers are song writers for a reason: they don't have the voice to make it big as a soloist. as a singer myself, i don't see anything wrong with that.

@prettyprettythingwow yeah I have seen it, but I also noticed that she tried to outsing him at the end. Tried to make sure they only heard her.

Fortunate to have seen Angie perform live the only time I know of him coming to MN. My friend Nathan Anderson (also on youtube) opened for him at The Fineline Music Cafe. I had never heard him prior to that. Cannot believe Angie is not the recognized superstar he deserves to be.

@urieal I remember that performance, I couldn't figure out if it was that or the cold rain that caused my reactions. I like to think it was Angie. S.
