AMOREENA

Elton John

Tumbleweed Connection (1970)

Lately I've been thinking how much I miss my lady

Amoreena's in the cornfield brightening the daybreak

Living like a lusty flower, running through the grass for hours

Rolling through the hay like a puppy child

And when it rains the rain falls down

Washing out the cattle town

And she's far away somewhere in her eiderdown

And she dreams of crystal streams

Of days gone by when we would lean

Laughing fit to burst upon each other

I can see you sitting eating apples in the evening

The fruit juice flowing slowly, slowly, slowly

Down the bronze of your body

Living like a lusty flower, running through the grass for hours

Rolling through the hay like a puppy child

And when it rains the rain falls down

Washing out the cattle town

And she's far away somewhere in her eiderdown

And she dreams of crystal streams

Of days gone by when we would lean

Laughing fit to burst upon each other

Oh if only I could nestle in the cradle of your cabin

My arms around your shoulders the windows wide and open

While the swallow and the sycamore are playing in the valley

Oh I miss you Amoreena like a king bee misses honey

And when it rains the rain falls down

Washing out the cattle town

And she's far away somewhere in her eiderdown

And she dreams of crystal streams

Of days gone by when we would lean

Laughing fit to burst upon each other

And when it rains the rain falls down

Washing out the cattle town

And she's far away somewhere in her eiderdown

And she dreams of crystal streams

Of days gone by when we would lean

Laughing fit to burst upon each other

One of my favorite songs by Elton. I want to have sex while listening to this song. ....living like a lusty flower...

Elton from Empty Sky to Caribou was untouchable...after that, his albums had high points and low points. Side 2 of Rock of the Westies is unbelievably good, and Blue Moves has some sterling tracks too though it should have been kept at a single LP.

this is a song about a man wanting a woman, deep down to his very guts. Beautiful.

Let's just agree that nothing compares to Elton John of the 1970s. Album after album after album was good enough to put on the turntable and play all the way through.

Robert Wright

just my opinion, but his early stuff was really good, better, imo, than his later stuff

you could confidently play this album on a turntable back in 19 seventy whatever.. and nobody would ever disagree wit the choice you made.

songwriting like this sadly seems to become extinct. There are a few out there but they are overwhelmed by the mountains of crap that passes for music these days.....
