The day after Layne Staley died, I was at the audition of a talent show scam thing in Portland. Sang, and... whatever...and then one of the judges gladhanded me asked if I knew Staley had passed. I said "yeah..." Then he asked if I had any aspirations to get famous. I shrugged my shoulders. What happens to the ones who make it? They do drugs, overdose, and are forgotten about. It's ultimately just the same as never being discovered, becoming an alcoholic, and then dying in a ditch. Why do drugs when you're famous, just so you can die in a ditch when you're no longer famous?

Its quite amazing Layne could sing so well even when he was in bad health by 1998. He was so strong to hold on for as long as he did. I give him props for trying to beat his battles with addiction. It takes guts to try and quit something that could kill you either way. Laynes contribution to music will live on as long as we keep listening.

that's a terrible idea, Layne and his other band mates wouldn't want to a movie shown on how bad his illness was and how it slowly ate away at him.....and eventually killed him :(
