you know... almost every composer has done some form of illegal substance so what's the point on arguing who said and did what? the point is that they made freaking good music, so just listen, and give credit to their achievements that you like. he's dead and gone but he left us something to listen to, lyrically and speech wise. at least he could understand his problems.

You're right about the "songs" but I didn't mean songs I mean "Lyrics" He wrote most of the lyrics to the songs including (Rain when I die) on Dirt. and I will cite my Source here: wiki/Dirt_(Alice_in_Chains_album)

Layne wrote Again,Man in the box,I stay away, and Rain when I die.. all those considered "Hits". But I do agree the hits don't stack up to things that went under the radar.

layne>cantrell in singing cantrell>layne in lyrics not that hits are always better, especially with aic, but cantrell did write more hits. the biggest song layne wrote was angry chair and thats a pretty bad song for aic standards, imo

Layne wrote almost all the lyrics to the songs on the self titled and I wouldn't stand that up against Cantrell because he is equally as bad ass at writing music and lyrics in general. but Layne beats him by a mile in poetic's.
