Great version of 'Country Boy' from an old Chas and Dave Christmas Special - Note Eric Clapton in the audience.

There are a few guitarists who do what THEY do as well as Albert, but nobody who does what HE does as well as him!

I have great respect and admiration for Albert Lee. I've learned so much from watching Albert and it's served me quite well gigging in Texas.

Clapton is there because he is a great friend of Albert's . Not least because Albert played in his band for five years.

The show this is from, Chas n Dave's Christmas Knees Up, is enjoying a repeat on Channel 5 in the UK, on Christmas Day night. Well worth a watch if you've never seen it in full! :)

Comparisons between Albert & Eric are ridiculous, they are each masters of their chosen genres and as it happens they are, and always have been, the best of friends, each admiring the others playing. In Alberts case he is unique and I can think of no other player who has given me such pleasure over the years. He is amazing live and now, at the age of 70 is playing as well as, if not better than ever

I absolutely love this performance...BUT you "guitar experts" need to quiet down. To say that Clapton is inferior is pure ignorance. These two guitarists are masters of their own genres. I would love to see Albert play the blues with the same intensity and emotion as Eric, but he can't. Country music lead guitar is incredibly fun and exciting to watch, but is much more focused on flashy technique type playing. PLease! stop with the stupid comparisons

Why on earth would anyone suggest 'Eric should put his guitar away'? He plays out of love these days, to raise money, keep his band in work and because what else is he supposed to do? Sit quietly in a corner because some mis-guided little prick copied something clapton played 40 yrs ago and then decided he's a better player. Look at BB King and Chuck Berry well into their 80's and still touring. Who cares if their playing is ropey, what they own is a legacy and people still love to see/hear them. Perhaps 'the person who suggested that' should quit there job at Maccy D's because they no longer flip burgers like they used to..!!!!!

More folks need to know how great Albert Lee is....Steve Morse is my favorite guitar player for a variety of reasons...his versatility is unreal..his country and blue grass style of playing no doubt was influenced by Albert Lee...this is a great performance.

Of course it seems to have gone unnoticed here that Albert was at one time in Eric's band. One of the most mesmerizing pieces of guitar playing I have ever seen was at Manchester Apollo when the two of them traded licks on this piece. I'm afraid those who say Eric should put away his guitar are sadly misguided

@3:57 This Is precisely the point where Eric Clapton should of put his guitar in the bin, walked out and caught the bus to the nearest Job Center.

Slowhand had kind of a sheepish look on his face, eh? ;o) Blues players are excellent - but the top country players (Gatton, Anderson, Donahue and of course Lee) are SUPREME.
