Aaliyah Dana Haughton

born in New York, January 16 1979,

dead in Marsh Harbour (Abaco Islands, Bahamas),

August 25 2001,

called "The Princess of R&B", "The Queen of Urban Pop",

was an American R&B recording artist, actress and model.

She was born in Brooklyn, New York,

and was raised in Detroit, Michigan.

She died at age 22 in an unfortunate and tragic plane crash.

The plane (Cessna 402B) crashed shortly after takeoff,

about 200 feet (60 m) from the runway.

† Aaliyah and the eight others on board, were all killed

at 6:45 pm of the 25 August 2001
