1980 cover of 1963 hit by Kyu Sakamoto (b. November 10, 1941. d. August 12, 1985) Translated from Japanese (not literally) by A Taste of Honey.

The song was written by Rokusuke Ei after Japanese actress, Meiko Nakamura broke his heart.

I was bored this week so I put this together. I don't know why.

Lyrics:

It's all because of you

I'm feeling sad and blue

You went away

Now my life is just a rainy day

I love you so

How much you'll never know

You've gone away

And left me lonely

Untouchable memories

Seem to keep haunting me

Of love so true

That once turned all my gray skies blue

But you disappeared

Now my eyes are filled with tears

I'm wishing you were here with me

Soft with love are the thoughts of you

Now that you're gone

I don't know what to do

If only you were here

You'd wash away my tears

The sun would shine

And once again you'll be mine, all mine

But in reality

Your love will never be

Cause you took your love away from me

{Music}

If only you were here

You'd wash away my tears

The sun would shine

And once again you'll be mine, all mine

But in reality

Your love will never be

Cause you took your love away from me

Ohh, baby

You took your love away from me

{Music}

The original Japanese version of this song appears in the background of a scene from the Studio Ghibli movie "Up on Poppy Hill".

The instrument is a koto, not a harp. Sort of between a harp and a guitar. Hazel Payne is playing it...
