What this is is a remix/tweaking of Django's original 1946 recording by whoever Irrational Games hired to do so.Yes, all the websites will say this is Django, it technically is, but heavily tweaked and "Americanized" if you will.Honestly I appreciate this version's slower and moodier take, fits the Rapture setting well.

Django did two recordings of this tune and this is none of them. One on February 1st 1946 in London as a straight string-swing quintet with Grappelli and british rhythm guitarists and bassist (Jack Llewellyn g ,Alan Hodgkiss g and Coleridge Goode b ) at which version the pace is higher and it transposes from F to C dure midsection while this is straight ahead F major. Django's solo ofcourse also being very distinct in contrast to this. The other version from Rome,49 has got piano and drums.

Like Joris Viquesnel already stated it; This is not Django / Stephane Grappelli. It is very clear. I already know for certain that the alledged Django takes from Bioshock; Jitterbug Waltz and It Had To Be You, aren't django either, so I suspect that this rendition could be the same band as with the other two. Clearly some very american sounding " ismes" are in play, like the blues style bending,I know that a band named " The Faux Frenchmen " were involved in the project , so maybe it's them.

The violin you are hearing is indeed Stephan Grapelli, he has a very distinct sound, and no one other in the world can make a vionlin sound like Grapelli's. I don't know why you would think this isn't Grapelli (and it's also Django playing guitar here), but their styles of playing just can't be copied... and if I'm wrong, who are they??

well a quick shopping browse will reveal no available version (at least here in California, USA - related sites/stores) like this one. The, real, version, is like the aforementioned faster pace and higher key -i think- p.s. after being in the studio with a professional prdcr, it is absolutely clear to me that this has a slim chance of being a perfectly good rendition. reason being: to fit the mood of the game. i always think of this song when i think bioshock. that's the producer's job, man! :D

This is Django, I've heard this song on pandora, the one by Django is just a bit faster and has a few more instruments. The one on bioshock is obviously remixed

@joandlucio I'm not doubting you, but I've looked through a bunch of websites, including the Bioshock wiki, and they all say that this is. I'm sure you're right, but if you could tell who it is and link me your source, I would be more that happy to change it!^^* I TRY and keep all the music I upload as correct as possible, but... you know.^^
