It's awfully considerate of you to think of me here

And I'm much obliged to you for making it clear

That I'm not here.

And I never knew the moon could be so big

And I never knew the moon could be so blue

And I'm grateful that you threw away my old shoes

And brought me here instead dressed in red

And I'm wondering who could be writing this song.

I don't care if the sun don't shine

And I don't care if nothing is mine

And I don't care if I'm nervous with you

I'll do my loving in the winter.

And the sea isn't green

And I love the queen

And what exactly is a dream

And what exactly is a joke.

This song makes me feel melancholic and it seems as though I can somewhat relate to him when I listen to this song :/ RIP Syd, we love you, you genius, you.

Why does it seem like most of you don't even understand this song at all? Syd wrote this as cynical humor toward the rest of the band and the others around him. It's sarcasm for being forced out of a band which he named, was a main writer for, and was a founding member of. He writes other songs about himself and his mental instability (such as Vegetable man) but this is not one of them. It's a joke, and an awesome one at that. I mean just listen to the lyrics, " I'm wondering who could be writing this song". He obviously knows that he wrote it, he is just reminding the band (who seems to have forgotten) that their success is based off of songs that he wrote! The whole album "The Piper at the Gates of Dawn" which sparked their success was mostly written by Barrett (at least the biggest hits)! You guys need to stop projecting your own insecurities and mental illness romanticism on all of Syd's stuff (and other major works of art/music). It's not schizophrenic, depressive, or any of that shit so just fuck off. Syd was great before he started having health problems. He should not be remembered because of the problems he developed but because of the great music that he turned out.

Wiki:Background and recording"Jugband Blues" was written around the same time as "Vegetable Man".[4] Both songs contain the same cynical humour, but while on "Vegetable Man" Barrett focuses his humour on himself, on "Jugband Blues" it is directed towards those around him.[3] "Jugband Blues" was recorded on 19 October 1967 at De Lane Lea Studios.[5] Barrett wanted a Salvation Army band to play on the track.[4] He told them he wanted them to simply "play whatever they want" regardless of the rest of the group,[4] while Norman Smith insisted on recorded parts.[3] Eventually both versions were recorded and used.[5] About The Salvation Army, band manager Andrew King said that Barrett "wanted a massive Salvation Army freak-out, but that's the only time I can remember Norman [Smith] putting his foot down."[5] The song features a distinctive three-tiered structure: starting off in 3/4 meter, then into 2/4 and finishing off in 4/4.[6]

I find it so brilliant for as good as Pink Floyds music was for their 30 year span, this is not just syds only song on the album but the only good song on one of pink floyds worst albums.

There have been lots of interpretations on the lyrics to this song but I feel Syd is just telling us he feels pissed because he is on the verge of being kicked out of the band because of his mental disease. It is a very sad song, sad and beautiful.

This is Syd Barretts retort to pink floyd selling out Syd didnt want to have "THEY" making his lyrics and sounds so he says "its awfully considerate of you to think of me here" being forced to tell stuff he never intented to say so hes not really there its not him its "THEY".

Когда я начинал слушать Пинк Флойд(в начале 90-х) примерно с Dark Side of the Moon,
