Which freakout parts when? I saw them live in 1999 twice and I think they were wildest then, small club, gen admission. Next was 2004 maybe at an older nice theater. Not really freaking out. Always intense. Always.

Really, he must not even know the history at all. I still love Jay and Son Volt. But Wilco has and continues to evolve. They are not the same band that created Summerteeth, but they can still play those songs just as powerfully. They are amazing artists, each one, and together, well, wonderful. Seeing them live for the 5th time this summer was a highlight of the year. And they were touring with Dylan. I wouldn't limit Tweedy to that. Jeff is his own.
