I've just stumbled across this on my facebook feed, a friend liked a feed from a friend. Those things that despite its faults, facebook is good for. This is one of the most beautiful pieces of music, I have ever heard. Simply simply beautiful in every way. Thank you to who wrote and performed and produced this :)

I bought this disc when it came out, still have the original, and along with Pentangle it remains one of my favourites. Haunting lyrics.

I found this song as a sample in a rap song called "river blood" from "nature of the beast"

Maybe not a traditional folksong. But one of my favourites from my youth.

A wonderful, ethereal Folk outfit that would, I guess, fall into the Folk/ Horror genre, if it were a film. This is, as the other critic below suggested, haunting & beautiful.

The poet's voice lingers onHis words hang in the airThe ground you walk uponMight as well not be thereMight as well not be thereI'll take you through my dreamsOut into the darkest morningPast the blood filled streamsInto the garden of Jane DelawneyInto the garden now

This singer currently tells North End Londoners to "please mind the gap."

I heard various other versions, but the Trees triumph. The double tracked vocal is so delicate. I found a Welsh version by Heather Jones, and now I wonder why Mary Hopkin never did one. Using Donovan for the counterpart, like she did on her 1968 Postcard album, Lord Of The Reedy River...
