They were on that sweet edge before 'Rock' emerged at Welsh Harp Reservoir - in Mister Baker's maisonette. The songs are wonderful and Relf means it. i love 'Island' by Renaissance' too. Seems to be about that 'island ' that he and his sister grew up in, by the Thames in Richmond

'More talent and charisma''? Surely you mean a talent very unique and a charisma distinct from Brian Jones' but equally as formidable in each. How pathetically superficial a promulgation - set as it is in the question of each's hairstyle! Brian Jones could not have written the songs that Relf wrote/co-wrote, nor performed them so earnestly and in turn Relf could never have played all those instruments with such dexterity and nuanced touch, nor arranged the Stones' music thus.
