Brilliant music from Mary............thank you Machree. Would love to see a video version of same by Mary if anyone has it. Great photo too, showing the original back gate of Guinness St James's Gate Brewery (no 2 gate) leading to Robert St, Rainsford St and Portland St West. Guinness purchased these local streets from Dublin City Council in the late 70s to include same within the brewery complex and moved the brewery no 2 gate out to Market St South and Bellevue, location of the current Storehouse, Guinness visitors' centre. .Beir bua.

it was originally a German folk song and some how made its way to the Uk in about 1840, it is probable that British soldiers brought the tune from wars they fought in Germany. Ie, the Battle of Blenheim.
