this is interesting. I'm not a fan of NP. From what I've heard so far, I think they are pretty boring as it goes. What's interesting is seeing Neko Case on the same stage as this all-too-forgettable band. What's even funnier is that she's SHARING backup! Did they have her grandmother tied up in some basement somewhere?

@MrDraven37 Neko tries too hard to dominate shows now that she's successful outside of TNP. If you watch her, she only signals one thing to the sound guy - MY MIKE LOUDER

@vealcutlet I'll go ahead and say that Kathryn can replace, and improve upon, Neko. Neko doesn't take her job seriously. She should be a solo artist - she is too selfish in shows to play second fiddle to Carl. On the other hand, Kathryn has the restraint necessary to let someone else sing lead.

@calixa If you love TNP and want to see them live, then what line up you are going to get is a risk that you are always going to have to take. I've seen TNP live on three occasions, and twice Neko was with them and one time she couldn't make it (due to recording Middle Cyclone). Never seen Dan perform with them, but I long ago accepted that he was only part of the band in the studio. I came to TNP via Neko, and the one time I saw them live without her, I still loved them.

Don't undersell Kathryn. Of course nobody can replace Neko, who sometimes does tour with them. Of all the times I've seen them I've only seen Bejar with them once, and that was probably only because Destroyer was playing the same festival.

@Dashielus yeah thats Kathryn Calder, she is AC Newmans niece actually. i saw her in the band when they were just trying her out, not even a member yet. She is okay, havent heard much solo or imacc machin stuff. She was definitely brought on to replace Neko on tour.

@calixa That's the trouble with supergroups, for sure. When I saw NP they had the girl from Immaculate Machines instead of Neko. It's disappointing, but it's good they're all still writing together.

you know what pisses me off?? when I got to a New Pornographers show and Neko Case and Dan Bejar are not even on stage. Such Bullshit, happened to me twice now. You can't even call yourself the same band without those two members. Rip Off. And in this clip, Neko is there, but Dan is missing. I guess that's the chance you take when you form a band with several UBERTALENTED people, they become successful beyond the band and have independent duties. PORNOS STILL RULE.

@wharfrat89 I know what you mean. Their sound reminds me of classic rock. It's propelled by guitar, drums and absolutely great melodies. It reminds of the days of rock operas.
